Congratulations to our University Finals 3-Minute Presentation Winners!
Lonna Freshley (CEHA) took first place, Jake Romoser (CHS) took second and Brit Johnson (CAS) took third. Ben Semola (Global Studies) was the People’s Choice winner.
Additionally, Hasitha Premathilake from Animal and Food Science won the student travel award drawing. Agricultural Economics won the program drawing for professional development funds.
Important Dates & Deadlines
Friday, March 8: Deadline to have attended a thesis/dissertation workshop or to have watched the webinar.
The webinar is available in the Graduate College Round-up. Three in-person sessions are being offered before the deadline: March 4 at 2:30 PM, March 6 at 10:30 AM or March 7 at 3:30 PM. All will be held in the Graduate Student Success Center Commons (B-09 GAB). Registration is encouraged.

2019 UCS Mental Series
February 28: Managing Stress
No one is immune from stress, but those entering the ivory towers of college are particularly vulnerable to it. We will discuss how stress affects us physically, mentally, and emotionally. We will discuss the difference between “healthy” stress and “unhealthy” stress and how to best manage it through your college experience.

Copyright Essentials for Graduate Students

This workshop will answer common copyright questions that graduate students may have when writing their thesis/dissertation. Topics will include how to include copyrighted works (i.e. graphs, tables, chart, images, etc.) of others in your document, as well as how to protect your work and what options you have when you submit your thesis/dissertation.
Patents Online: Discover Trends in Research and Product Development

Learn how to search patents and patent applications with an overview of intellectual property. This will be a hands-on class with time in the end for searching and for questions and answers

DOE Office of Science Graduate Research (SCGSR) Program

The Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program (SCGSR) is now accepting applications.
The goal of the SCGSR program is to prepare graduate students for science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories.
The SCGSR program provides supplemental awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to pursue part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE laboratory/facility in areas that address scientific challenges central to the Office of Science mission.
