City Year National Scholars Requirements
- Submit a letter of good standing from your City Year director with your OSU graduate application to be eligible for an application fee waiver.
- Students must be pursuing their first graduate degree or transitioning directly from a master’s to a doctoral program. Those seeking a second master's or PhD are not eligible.
- Apply to the City Year Scholars Program when submitting your first graduate program application at OSU.
- Admission to the program is competitive and not guaranteed.
- Applicants must be fully admitted to a master’s or doctoral program (not provisional or certificate programs).
- Must enroll in a residential program on the Stillwater, Tulsa, or CHS campuses. Distance learning programs are not eligible.
- Scholars are required to meet with a Graduate College academic advisor each semester to confirm academic progress.
- Tuition waivers apply only to credit hours required for the degree:
- With an assistantship: minimum 6 graduate credit hours
- Without an assistantship: minimum 9 graduate credit hours
- Participation in 360° Critical Skills for Career Success is required each semester.

- Up to $500 in travel reimbursement per degree is available for:
- Professional development
- Conference presentations
- Research data collection

- Accepted students receive a tuition waiver specific to the City Year program. This waiver cannot be combined with other waivers.
- If the student has a GRA/GTA, the GSSI waiver applies.
- If the student is a full-time employee, the faculty/staff waiver applies.
- The City Year waiver does not apply in combination with others.
- Students maintaining good standing in the program remain eligible for tuition waivers in future semesters, even if assistantship or employee status ends.
- Full-time enrollment remains required for waiver eligibility.

How to Apply to the City Year National Scholars Program
- Complete your graduate application for OSU and identify yourself as a City Year National Scholar on the application.
- Upload a letter of good standing from your undergraduate McNair director.
- Acceptable file formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, RTF, TXT.
- Once admitted to a qualifying graduate program, your eligibility for the fellowship will be automatically reviewed.
- The City Year National is competitive, and early application is strongly encouraged.
- If selected, you will be contacted directly by the OSU Graduate College with an offer.
