The Robberson Summer Dissertation Fellowships / Research & Creative Activity Grants provide financial support to outstanding doctoral students seeking to complete their dissertation research during the summer term.

The program supports post-candidacy doctoral students from any disciplinary or interdisciplinary graduate program at Oklahoma State University. These fellowships enable students to dedicate time to research and creative activity that contributes to the successful completion of their doctoral degree.

  • Award Benefits

    Recipients of the Robberson Summer Dissertation Fellowship receive:

    • $7,000 summer stipend paid in June
    • Tuition waiver for up to three credit hours during the summer session
    • Opportunity to have their research project featured in Graduate College communications or on the website.
  • Eligibility

    Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Must be a post-candidacy doctoral student at Oklahoma State University.
    • Must have been enrolled full-time during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
    • Must continue as a degree-seeking student in Fall 2026.
    • Must have doctoral candidacy approved by the Graduate College by May 1, 2026.
    • Applicants must be nominated by their academic unit (self-nominations are not accepted).
    • Each academic unit may submit only one nomination.
  • Fellowship Requirements

    Award recipients must comply with the following requirements:

    • Fellows cannot hold other OSU employment or assistantships during the fellowship period (June 8 – July 31, 2026).
    • Must enroll in at least two credit hours during the summer session.
    • Must provide an activity-related photo for publication (a media release is required).
    • Must submit a brief activity report describing research accomplishments.
    • Required documentation must be submitted by August 7, 2026.
  • Application Materials

    Applications must be submitted electronically as one PDF file containing the following materials:

    • Cover page including student name, CWID, program of study, and faculty advisor
    • Student essay (maximum 300 words) describing the importance of this opportunity to their graduate career
    • Research outline describing purpose and methodology (maximum 2 pages)
    • Most recent OSU transcript (unofficial transcript accepted)
    • List of university and professional activities or services
    • Letter of recommendation from the primary research advisor
    • Signature endorsement from the department head, unit head, or graduate program coordinator
    • Completed PowerPoint award announcement template.
  • Important Dates

    Nomination materials must be submitted by the deadline indicated in the official call for nominations.

    Selected honorees are expected to participate in:

    • Graduate College Awards Ceremony – late April
    • OSU Commencement Ceremony – May graduation ceremony
