Zero-Ending Course Syllabus Examples
General Overview
In 2026, Oklahoma State University began requiring faculty to create syllabi for Zero-Ending courses (e.g., 5000 Thesis Research and 6000 Dissertation Research courses, independent study courses). Here we provide a few examples with varying levels of structure, but you are welcome to develop your own syllabus. We recommend you review each template, as there may be elements you prefer in different templates.
Course syllabi are intended for Graduate Faculty who teach or supervise Thesis Research (5000) or Dissertation Research (6000) courses and for graduate students enrolled in these courses. It helps ensure that course expectations, research responsibilities, evaluation criteria, and academic integrity standards are clearly communicated and consistently applied.
