Graduate students who are masters and doctoral degree candidates in Fall 2018 can attend.
The Graduate Commencement Ceremony is distinct from the Undergraduate Ceremonies held on Saturday and is the only opportunity for advanced degree recipients to attend Commencement.
On Friday evening, parking is available on the north, south and west sides of Gallagher-Iba Arena. Parking lots open at 5:00 pm. Special needs parking is available at Lot #5 (Located south of Gallagher-Iba). Handicapped and wheelchair seating is available on the second level (Concourse Level in the arena and is accessible by elevator. For questions regarding elevator access and seating locations, please see the security personnel at Gallagher-Iba.
Paratransit services will be offered to any disabled student who lives within Stillwater City limits and would like transportation to Gallagher-Iba Arena for the ceremonies. The service will be offered only within the city limits of Stillwater. Reservations must be made no later than 5:00pm on the Thursday before commencement directly to Tom Duncan 405-744-2830 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Transportation will be offered to the ceremony and a return trip. Due to restrictions, only one round trip will be offered.
Sign language interpreting will be provided on the overhead video screens. If you have any questions, please VP or voice 405-744-7116.

Doctorate candidates and all faculty should assemble by college at the Pistol Pete statue (northwest end of Gallagher-Iba) and master's candidates should meet in the practice gym (south side of Gallagher-Iba) on Friday at 6:15 p.m. Signs for each college will be posted. For doctorate candidates, we have a PowerPoint slide presentation explaining the commencement process. Please download it to your computer to view.
Faculty advisors of master's candidates are encouraged to attend the ceremony and should also assemble by the Pistol Pete statue.
All degree candidates who register by the graduation application deadline will have a pre-printed name card. The cards will be available in the assembly areas. Keep the card with you until you are ready to cross the stage. At that time, hand the completed card to the reader's assistant who will be on the stage.
Faculty marshals will be present to assemble candidates into lines for the processional.
Graduates and faculty will be ushered into the arena and seated. During the processional, please go into the rows as directed by the Ushers. The candidate processional will begin at approximately 6.40 pm.
Doctoral degree recipients carry their hoods (unbuttoned) on their left arm. Doctoral advisors, together with the College Dean, will hood their doctoral candidates. Another designated university official will assist in the hooding of doctoral candidates whose advisor is not present.
Master's degree recipients wear their hoods as they enter the arena.
After the candidates have been presented on stage, they should exit the stage and return to their original seats.
To ensure that all candidates are appropriately recognized for their achievement, guests are not allowed on the arena floor.
A reception will be held immediately following Friday’s commencement in Gallagher-Iba, second floor.
The reception opens immediately following the conclusion of Friday's commencement and is open until 9:30 p.m. All graduates, their friends, and family are invited to attend.
Typically caps/gowns start to be available two weeks before the ceremony. Dates and

The Graduate College is committed to making activities as accessible as possible. The University provides a range of special services for persons with disabilities (e.g., accessible seating and sign language interpretation).
Handicap parking is available in Lot 5 (see parking map above for parking information). Also, there is plenty of seating on the main concourse for family members in wheel chairs or for those who have difficulties with stairs. Elevators are located on the north and south sides of Gallagher-Iba Arena.
