What is Toxicology?
Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of chemicals or substances on living systems.
Why a Toxicology Certificate?
Toxicology crosses a broad range of disciplines, including biology, pharmacology, chemistry, and medicine. OSU offers a graduate certificate in Interdisciplinary Toxicology. Many students combine the graduate certificate in interdisciplinary toxicology (12 hrs) to further enhance their training.
Toxicology Graduate Certificate
The Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Toxicology provides students with a survey of basic concepts and principles in toxicology. Twelve credit hours to include courses from at least two different participating departments/colleges (see Courses Offered) are required for conferring the Certificate. This Certificate will prepare students from diverse backgrounds to address environmental and public health issues related to chemical toxicity. Students apply for admission through the Graduate College.
Students in the Certificate Program can apply for funds to support training opportunities/travel (contact Jason Belden for information). Applications for travel support must be submitted 30 days before the proposed travel. An award based on academic performance and engagement in interdisciplinary efforts within the Program.
Application Requirements
- Be a graduate student at OSU
- Meet the admission standards of the Graduate College
- Have the equivalent of at least a 3.0/4.0 undergraduate GPA
Graduate Certificate Admissions
- Submit an application
- Pay the required application fee
- Submit any needed transcripts
- Once admitted, submit a plan of study.
Once you have completed the course requirements for the Certificate Program, to receive your certificate you must submit a graduation application to the Registrar's Office (via my.okstate.edu).
