Introduction to Physical Wellness
Physical wellness is about finding the right balance between routine physical activities, consumption of healthful or proper nutrition, routine screenings and check-ups, adequate sleep and observing safe practices. The ultimate aim of physical wellness is to keep the body in optimal health and functional condition.
How to improve your Physical wellness
- Regular routine exercise-at least 30 minutes a day
- Being aware of your dietary needs-especially eating a nutritious diet
- Ensuring that you sleep adequately daily (at least 7 to 9 hours)
- Routine health screenings and check-ups
- Maintaining proper hygiene
- Learn to take time off and relax
- Drinking lots of water
- Avoid substance abuse-harmful to the body and mind

Department of Wellness
The Department of Wellness offers programs and services to help provide a healthy lifestyle environment for students, faculty and staff. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our students, staff and faculty through improved physical and mental development that leads to a healthy and rewarding life.
Campus Recreation
Within the Department of Wellness there is a wide range of programming that you can take advantage of on your wellness journey.
Group Fitness Classes
Both live and pre-recorded group fitness classes are currently available.
Virtual Fitness Classes
Take advantage of the exercise library to tailor your own workout or a pre-recorded class for more guidance.
Sports Clubs
Over 35 sports clubs are active at OSU.
Intramural Sports
More than 50 sporting activities a year in these friendly, competitive events. A great way to meet people and get in some exercise.
OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center
The Tulsa Wellness Center has a cardio area and weight lifting area. Fitness classes are also available.
CHS-Wellness Center
The CHS Wellness Center features a wide range of equipment for all fitness levels.

River Sports Boathouse District-OKC
The Oklahoma City Boathouse District is also home to RIVERSPORT Rapids, a whitewater rafting/ kayaking facility that hosted the 2016 whitewater kayaking Olympic trials. If you prefer to stay on land, the district also includes 14 miles of trails that connect to Lake Overholser, the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge and Lake Hefner to the north and west of downtown Oklahoma City. Oklahoma River is also home to the Oklahoma River Cruises, which offers connections to Bricktown and OKC’s historic Stockyards City.
