PRACTICUM STEPS TO SUCCESS
The steps below serve as a timeline to your practicum experience. These should be completed in chronological order.
Step 1) Make or Upload your CV on VisualCV.com
Step 2) Choose a Practicum Site
Step 3) Advisor Site Approval
Step 4) Identify a Preceptor
a. Does your Preceptor meet the following criteria?
i. Bachelor’s with minimum of seven years experience
ii. Master’s with minimum of five years experience
iii. PhD with minimum of two years experience
Step 5) Fill out the Practicum Learning Agreement
a. Establish your Learning Objectives
Step 6) Give an introductory presentation to your Practicum Committee
Step 7) Accrue at least 200 practicum hours ON-SITE
a. For every 50 hours you work, you must submit a reflection. Reflection guidelines can be found in the Practicum Guide and the MPH Practicum Syllabus
Step 8) Write Your Final Paper
Step 9) Submit the paper to your Practicum Committee for review
Step 10) Set a date for practicum defense
Step 11) Practicum Defense
Step 12) Turn in final draft of paper with edits
- Note: The Final Paper must be physically submitted to Dr. Croff with all of the practicum forms attached. The forms can be found on the Practicum Guide. The physical copy should include the following.
- Paper
- Appendices
- Practicum Learning Agreement
- Written Assignment Score Sheet
- Site Evaluation of the Student
- Student Evaluation of the Site
- Faculty Advisor Signature Page
Step 13) GRADUATE!
