INTERNATIONAL TEACHING ASSISTANT PROGRAM
About the ITA Program
The International Teaching Assistant (ITA) Program is a collaborative effort between the English Department and the Graduate College and works to support multilingual instructors at OSU in developing and improving their linguistic, presentation, and interactional skills in the American classroom and in other academic settings.
The ITA Program supports ITAs and other multilingual instructors through:
- A four-part professional development workshop series offered each semester.
- Two separate 2 credit-hour courses:

The ITA Program also conducts the ITA Exam for GTAs who want to serve in an instructional capacity and meet certain language requirements. For more information on the requirements for the ITA Exam, how to prepare for the exam, and to register, please visit the ITA Exam page.
In addition to supporting multilingual instructors, the ITA Program works with the Directors of Student Academic Success to support students of multilingual instructors in improving students’ intercultural communication skills and their ability to succeed in courses with multilingual instructors.
